Harriet Quinn established somamoves in 2014

(also know as body mind movement).

 somamoves was born out of Harriets interest and love for moving, making and the anatomy and physiology of the human body.

 

Through movement, dance, yoga and play Harriets classes, workshops and one-to-ones encourage participants to find ways to explore and observe their connection to soma- 'the body as perceived from within'.

Harriets teaching is deeply rooted in Somatic movement practices encouraging a sense of full bodied autonomy and awareness. The focus of somamoves is to cultivate safe spaces to explore the nuances of our inner landscapes.

If you would like to explore your movement practice a little deeper spend some time with Harriet exploring your inner landscape. Harriet uses techniques of moving, breathing, drawing and hands on bodywork to work with clients enabling them to reconnect with their bodies in a safe and supported space.

Harriet currently teaches freestyle yoga- 
During freestyle yoga Harriet incorporates the form and flow of yoga with the dynamics of contemporary dance technique and the energy of martial arts. We will work to build physical autonomy allowing you to increase you level of fitness and body awareness gradually and mindfully.

BODY AWARENESS

Body Awareness is a low impact, quiet class useful to all levels. In body awareness we incorporates slow, mindful movements that raise bodily awareness to heal persistent tension-based patterns in the body. We work with corrective exercises that are ideal for overcoming bodily pain as well as dramatically increasing flexibility through the healing power of brain-to-muscle awareness and re-education. Body Awareness is based on principles of Somatics, Feldenkrais as well as breath work and yoga. Somatics comes from the word soma, or "the body as perceived from within".
